Teach in a big or small city
You can choose to teach in a big city or a small city, in any corner of China.
In terms of population, a small city in China isn’t small by Western comparison. In fact, a small Chinese city could be home to a few million people!
If you choose to work in a smaller city, chances are you’ve never heard of the place we recommend. That’s OK though – we can answer any questions you have or help you find another teaching location.
The big cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou are often chosen by first-time teachers because that’s all they know.
But there’s much more to China than the mega cities!

Some teachers prefer the smaller cities because they feel friendlier and have a more personal vibe.
On the other hand, other teachers prefer the bigger cities where there are more Western conveniences and foreigners.
Ultimately, it’s a personal choice. It all boils down to the kind of experience you want to have in China.
